ICE arrests alarm California’s community colleges. How much can campus officials do?

CalMatters reported that California community colleges are trying to discourage immigration enforcement on campuses, but they can’t do much to bar ICE agents from public spaces.

The same report said that Welcome to CalMatters, the only nonprofit newsroom devoted solely to covering issues that affect all Californians.

It also noted that Immigration enforcement agents are inciting panic at California’s community colleges.

The account added that Last month, the San Diego Community College District said ICE agents arrested a student on a public street that cuts through the urban campus and proceeded to chase another student up the steps of the school’s Arts and Humanities building.
